Eurovision 2019: Srbuk to represent Armenia!

We are not yet in the New Year, but already we know the first artist who will be competing at Eurovision 2019. Armenia were the first of the 42 participating nations to announce their artist which will be Srbuk!

During the late night show, Lav Yereko, Srbuk was announced as the Armenian representative for next year’s contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. Srbuhi Sargsyan, known as Srbuk first came to prominence after competing on the first season of the Armenian version of the X Factor, where she finished as the runner up of the show. This year, she competed in season 8 of The Voice of Ukraine where she finished fourth.

Srbuk has been described as one of the up and coming artists in Armenia, with her previous Yete Karogh es topping the Armenian charts upon its release in 2016. Last week, she also released a new single titled Half a Goddess.

She has commented on her upcoming role, saying, ‘I am starting a new journey now, which, I am sure, will be full of new and pleasant emotions, challenges and amazing experiences! I am grateful to all of my friends and fans, who are always with me and have always wanted to see me on the Eurovision stage. I am grateful to the Public Television of Armenia for their trust. It’s an honor to represent my country in front of the whole world! We have an amazing journey ahead of us, and I hope we’ll succeed together!’

The song she will be performing in Tel Aviv is yet to be decided. The Armenian broadcaster has announced an open call for submissions with the submission period closing on the 10th of January, 2019. You can submit your entries to the following email address: selection@armtv.com
